$20 MILLION EMBASSY LEVEL CUSTOM HOME, NAPLES, FLORIDA

“Embassy Level” custom homes represent the highest levels of finishes and the most expensive custom homes built in America. This particular home was the most expensive home on Gordon Drive in Naples, Florida at the time.

The Owner, a prominent home product manufacturer, approached our client, the General Contractor, about building a custom home that incorporated this best features from other homes our client had built. Simply stated, the Owner wanted a custom home that used the best features of other high-end homes our client had built in Naples. After visiting a number of these homes together, our client sketched-out a scope of work and estimated lump-sum price of $3.8 million and a contract was executed.

The claims and disputes arose as costs exceeded the $3.8 million budget, and litigation arose when costs reached the $15 million range. The Owner couldn’t understand why costs had risen so high; and the Contractor couldn’t understand why the Owner didn’t understand how and when the scope and costs had changed so significantly.

The dispute was settled in mediation after Holloway Consulting performed a detailed analysis of the scope and cost of the homes upon which the budget was based versus the scope and cost of the home in dispute.

16-STORY HIGH-RISE CONDOS, DENVER, CO

Holloway Consulting was retained by counsel for drywall and sealants subcontractors to provide expert witness services on a 16-story high-rise condominium building in Denver, Colorado. The primary issue was whether these subs installed the EIFS system and exterior sealant system according to the contract design. Our clients achieved a very favorable settlement after depositions and shortly before trial.
